Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

You’ve probably never heard of SEO, but it really is just as vital as your website.  Search Engine Optimisation (SEO for short) is the process of getting your website to rank higher up in a search engine.  The easiest  we can describe what SEO really is would be this. 

When you go to Google (Yahoo!, or Bing) and type in “Builders Merchants” Google will display the top results for builders merchants (in the UK this would be Travis Perkins, Wickes and Jewsons).  The results that  appear (on the left) are “Natural Results”, by this we mean they are NOT paid for by a company (like the results to the top and right of the screen, companies pay for their results to appear in these areas).  The results in this area are there because they are the most popular, the most clicked on and last but not least the most relevant for what you originally searched for.
